Sardinia is home to three airports, which help keep the tourists coming for visits. The largest airport is Cagliari-Elmas (CAG), which is 4 miles from the center of Cagliari. The official name is L'Aeroporto di Cagliari Elmas. There are about 300 parking lots at the airport, and taxis are always available for incoming passengers. A shuttle bus carries people into the city every hour, or you can get a cheap car hire in Sardinia so you can travel at your leisure. Within the concourse, you will find many of the services needed when traveling, and there are several hotels conveniently located near the airport. The largest airline that services CAG is Alitalia. The official name of the second largest airport is Aeroporto di Olbia-Costa Smeralda (OLB). It is closer to the city center than CAG at only 2 miles. OLB has shuttles, taxis and rental car places the same as the larger airport. HLX, Helvetic, Easyjet, and Meridiana are the airlines that primarily service OLB. Alghero-Fertilia (AHO) is a small airport located on the northwest of the island. It is also known by the name Alghero Sardinia. Although flights in and out of AHO are more limited than the airport at Cagliari, it is serviced by Alitalia, Air One, and Ryanair.
Places to visit around Sardinia
The beaches of Porto Pollo are a good place to paddle out and enjoy the surf due to the windy conditions that move the waves. The bay offers canoeing and windsurfing, too. An array of islands, the Parco Nazionale dell' Arcipelago della Maddalena, can be reached in fifteen minutes by boat from the mainland. These islands offer crystal clear swimming areas and are frequent stops for yacht owners as well as day travelers.
