Pisa Airport information

There are two main airports in Tuscany, and the Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport is one of them. It is named after the famous "Father of Modern Science," Galileo. It is also called the Pisa-San Giusto Airport (PSA) because it is located in Pisa's San Giusto district. The other airport in Tuscany is the Peretola Airport (FLR) located near Florence. The San Giusto Airport is connected by bus or train to the city center and the short distance can be traveled in ten minutes or less. While at the airport, you may prefer to invest in cheap car hire in Pisa instead of using the public transportation system. The airport was initially designed and utilized as a military terminal in the 1930's and 40's. The Italian Air Force as well as that of the United States used the airfield during the Second World War. The military still uses the airfield today alongside the commercial carriers. The San Giusto Airport stands as Italy's 11th most often used airport. In 2009, over four million passengers were logged through the terminal. There are two runways for the airport and they reside at a scant six feet above sea level. It is only 1.2 miles from the airport to the central railway station and the airport has a railway station, too. Bus and train are available to Florence, which is the home of the other Tuscany airport, Peretola.
